I think it's a TV drama thing. The producers have a thing about sticking to certain expressions regardless of the times and authenticity. When I was watching the TVB's 射鵰英雄傳, I heard some expressions I considered totally ridiculous. I checked with this friend of mine who's in the business, who told me that my preferred expressions were not suitable for 大雅之堂. Well, the dialog was in Cantonese, so they should've used authentic Cantonese words. I asked my friend who was at TVB when that was made whether they did a historical study on how Cantonese was spoken back in the Sung dynasty to determine the dialog. He said he was sure that no such research was conducted, and that they chose the words based on what was suitable for 大雅之堂
My Mother-in-law doesn't call me 家嫂 but call my Chinese name. Sometimes i don't know that I am being called because nobody calls me by that name. I wish she would call me 家嫂 [版主回覆10/01/2008 14:09:00]你 喺「家明嫂」嘛。
My childhood memory is slowly coming back. I remember a 麗的呼聲 drama way back in ancient times which started each segment with " 難為左你啦 , 家嫂!" It was one of those afternoon radio tearjerkers. The 麗的呼聲 I was referring to was a radio station, not TV. So 唔使比錢 ! [版主回覆10/01/2008 17:23:00]電視是麗的影聲。 麗的呼聲要比錢的，小時候我家裏有個不能聽的收音機，我去問我爸，他說是以前租回來的麗的呼聲（我不知道為甚麼不用還），要每個月付錢才可以聽，我媽覺得太貴太浪費，經常「依依哦哦」，終於「哦」得我爸取消麗的呼聲。後來有了免費電台，所以麗的呼聲要關門大吉囉。 麗的影聲也是因為無線開台所以要關門大吉，應該是被 迫 轉為免費電視，即是現在的亞洲電視。

通常都係叫名多, 我估真係無乜人仲會叫家嫂, 叫家嫂也好像好'見外'.

回覆刪除重有，現今電視劇叫人走重會叫”你扯呀” ，現實中邊個會咁叫的 ？？通常都係叫”爛開啦，死開啦，走啦．．”咁之嘛 ！

〈麗的呼聲〉後期有沒有改為「不收費」我就不記得了，我只記得當時大家都 流行 聽〈商業電台 〉 ，似乎沒甚麼人聽〈麗的呼聲〉，所以最後要「執笠」。
I stand corrected. Maybe I was too ignorant as a kid to be aware of the charge. $10 was serious money 50 years ago.
回覆刪除有好似係喎! 奶奶都係叫我個名. 我大表哥剛剛才結婚, 他媽咪(舅母)就跟表哥名他太太的名字. 而二表哥結左婚較為耐d, 舅母叫她為"二嫂".
